The Trump Organization has announced their purchase of the spectacular Atlantic Ocean fronting Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare, Ireland. The acquisition, which was highly sought after by many major hotel and golf companies, marks the 16th golf club in the Trump Portfolio and the 1st Trump Hotel Collection property in Ireland.

“I am thrilled to announce that we have purchased yet another incredible golf resort. From Trump National Doral, Miami to Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, known as “the greatest golf course in the world,” we only have the best. Doonbeg is an already terrific property that we will make even better — it will soon be an unparalleled resort destination with the highest standards of luxury,” stated Donald J. Trump, Chairman & President of the Trump Organization.

Doonbeg Golf Club, to be renamed Trump International Golf Links, Ireland, is situated on over 400-acres fronting for 2 ½ miles on the Atlantic Ocean and features an 18-hole championship golf links course. The world-renowned course is named the “#1 Resort in Europe” by Condé Nast Traveler, a “World’s Best” by Travel + Leisure and “European Golf Resort of the Year.”

The Lodge at Doonbeg, consists of 218 hotel suites, an expansive spa and several restaurants all which will be managed directly by the Trump Hotel Collection, Trump’s award-winning hotel management company — the fastest growing luxury hotel company anywhere in the world. Trump International Golf Links, Ireland will be 12th hotel in the collection and is the 4th addition in less than one year following the announcements of Trump International Hotel, The Old Post Office, Washington, D.C., Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver and Trump Hotel Rio de Janeiro.

Recently named by Jerry Tarde of Golf Digest Magazine as “Golf’s Greatest Builder Today,” Mr. Trump has yet again proven his tremendous commitment and investment to growing and enhancing the game of golf. Over the past 18 months Trump has dominated the industry most recently with the addition of Trump International Golf Club, Dubai, Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, which is located just 10 minutes from midtown Manhattan and Trump National Doral, Miami, home of the World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship and the iconic “Blue Monster” Golf Course. Trump International Golf Links, Ireland is a welcome addition to this impressive collection of iconic properties and when complete, will soon be the finest resort destination in Ireland.

Following a global marketing campaign by EY and selling agent Eastdil Secured, The Trump Organization executed the purchase and sale agreements on February 8, 2014.

Luke Charleton of EY commented, “There was a tremendous level of interest from domestic and international investors in this property. It is particularly pleasing to have sold this prestigious property to The Trump Organization who have the vision and resources to take what is an internationally renowned tourism resort to its next stage.” Mr. Charleton then added, “I would like to thank employees of The Lodge at Doonbeg and Doonbeg Golf Club for their support and professionalism during the receivership process. I’d also like to thank the customers for their support”.

The acquisition of this distinguished resort was spearheaded by Luke Charleton and David Hughes of EY, Randall Evans and Peter Geissel of Eastdil Secured and Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and George Sorial, Executive Vice Presidents of the Trump Organization. Donald Jr. & Eric will be arriving in Ireland today (Wednesday, February 12, 2014).
