Burhill Estates adds to portfolio

9.00am 3rd May 2001 - Property

Burhill Estates has completed the acquisition from Greene King of the business and assets of two pay and play golf courses: Abbey Hill in Milton Keymes and Wycombe Heights in High Wycombe.

These acquisitions bring the total number of clubs owned by Burhill Estates to seven. The newly acquired clubs will join Burhill’s pay and play group, the most well known of which is Hoebridge, near Woking, where there has been extensive refurbishment over the winter.

“We are delighted to have acquired these two clubs which fit well with our existing pay and play business,” said Paddy Mitchell, managing director of Burhill Estates. They both have very attractive courses and a loyal player base. It will be our intention to develop this through our already successful management approach, in particular improving the quality of the courses, driving ranges and teaching.

“The pay and play business is key to the development of golf in this country. Not only can it offer affordable, quality golf but every year it also introduces this wonderful game to new generations of players. We see as key to our success the maintenance of quality coaching for all ages and offering at attractive prices well-prepared golf facilities. These two acquisitions will be no different and I look forward to bringing them into the fold.”
