Former Solheim Cup legend Suzann Pettersen has become an ambassador for the new Golf Academy which is opening at SO/ Sotogrande Spa and Golf Resort later this summer.

As one of the most respected figures in international golf, Pettersen will serve as the face of the Academy, bringing her experience, passion, and leadership to this transformative project.

Her appointment marks a major milestone ahead of the Academy’s official launch in August and underscores Sotogrande’s commitment to creating a world-class destination for golf training and development.

The new Golf Academy will feature Toptracer driving range technology, a natural and covered tee line with VIP practice area, a custom fitting centre, night-time practice facilities, and a bar and café. The facility will also feature a new 9-hole par-3 course designed by former Ryder Cup player Manuel Piñero, short game practice areas, including putting and chipping greens, and a professional coaching zone.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Suzann,” said Rami Badr, as CEO of Sotogrande S.A. “She is the perfect ambassador for our new Golf Academy – a world-class athlete with an astonishing resumé in the game, and with a dedication to the sport that is an ideal representation of the Academy. She is also a fantastic role model to inspire those beginning their golfing journeys with us here in Sotogrande.”

Petterson said: “I’m honoured to join the Sotogrande team and be part of this project. This new facility is outstanding, and unlike anything else in the region. I look forward to spending time at the Academy and helping shape it into one of the best coaching facilities in the country.”

As part of her role, Pettersen will collaborate closely with the Academy’s team of teaching professionals to develop tailored training programmes that reflect her strategic approach to the game. Drawing on her extensive experience at the highest levels of competition, Pettersen will help instil her coaching philosophies throughout the facility, ensuring a consistent, elite-level methodology that supports golfers of all ages and abilities.

“We look forward to welcoming Academy guests to SO/ Sotogrande,” said Stéphane Menou, General Manager of SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort. “With one of the best coaching facilities in Europe on our doorstep creating an even more lifestyle destination within the destination, visitors can now enjoy not only elite program from Suzann and the team, but also the full experience of a 5-star lifestyle resort, completed with luxury spa Thalasso-inspired, Michelin star dining, and sweeping views across the Mediterranean.”

The new Sotogrande Golf Academy is set to officially open to the public in September.
