Royal Dornoch Golf Club teaching professional Ally McNaughton has been doing such sterling work with the Highland club’s thriving junior section that it has attracted global recognition.
McNaughton has received a commemorative plaque from The US Kids Golf Coaches Institute following their awards in Florida, marking him out among the organisation’s ‘Top 50 Kids Coaches‘.
Congratulating Ally on behalf of the club and members, Royal Dornoch general manager Neil Hampton said: “It’s a marvellous honour for Ally to be recognised by such an august body in golf. It underlines that word has been spreading just how successful our coaching and junior development programme is proving.
“We now have more than 150 local youngsters participating, and credit is due to Ally, with valuable support from Erin Herd and our head PGA coaching professional Gary Dingwall. We set out to provide local school pupils with an opportunity to get into golf and we are delighted to see so many enjoying themselves with their friends at the club’s coaching classes, and winning a clutch of trophies playing against clubs from all over the country is an added bonus.”
Coaches from 10 countries and 20 states in the USA were honoured by The US Kids Golf Coaches Institute’s annual awards which began more than 20 years ago.
