Women’s Golf Day founder Elisa Gaudet has been honoured with Individual Sports Professional – Community Award 2020 of the ISC International Sports Awards 2020.
The International Sports Convention awards, which are now in their fifth year, celebrate the finest sports work in the world. This year they recognised Elisa Gaudet’s success in delivering a strategy that has continued to expand Women’s Golf Day, despite the stress on the sports industry caused by the pandemic.
WGD experienced record-breaking growth in 2020, achieving a total of nearly over 90 million social media impressions and reaching 37 million people worldwide on Virtual Women’s Golf Day in June and WGD events, which were held September 1.
Other highlights include raising critical funds for Médecins sans Frontiers (Doctors without Borders), sponsorship agreements with Callaway Golf and SwingDish among others, global support from The R&A, and a soon to be announced relationship that will see WGD events in Japan in 2021.
Speaking about the award, Ms Gaudet said: “I am honoured and delighted to receive this award and congratulate all of the recipients on their achievements. My team has worked incredibly hard to deliver our vision in this challenging year. We want support the golf industry, celebrate women and unite golfers and golf professionals around the world, so to receive recognition on an international level for this is truly humbling.”
She added: “I am very excited for the upcoming year and look forward to developing the new opportunities we have in markets like Asia and specifically, Japan. 2020 has been a struggle for so many people, but this award is proof that by working together we can achieve great things.”
