Whitworth Clubs for Women Learners

10.45am 5th February 2000 - People

Kathy Whitworth will use Square Two Lady Ti clubs and lend her name to a new, inexpensive line for women learning the game.

The leading all-time tournament winner in ladies’ golf said her goal was to encourage women to start playing. “It’s so hard to get the ball in the air anyway, and when you do have some success it improves confidence,” she said. “I think this is where Square Two can make an impact – we have a lot of women playing the game but not enough staying in the game and we want to do something about that.”

The Kathy Whitworth Monogram Series consists of a full set of irons and three woods with graphite shafts. “Our strategy with Kathy will be to educate retailers and participants that you don’t need an expensive set of clubs to enjoy the game and score well,” said Douglas Buffington, Square Two’s president, during the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando
