Yas Links Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a centre of excellence for golf tuition in the Middle East– and to further strengthen its growing team has announced the appointment of PGA professional, Victoria Hassett, to its teaching staff.

Victoria recently graduated from Birmingham University, England, with a first class BA Honours Degree in Applied Golf Management – the first female to do so – and her studies included the biomechanics of the golf swing, golf psychology, business and financial performance, and equipment technology.

“Yas Links Abu Dhabi is building a rich pedigree, not only in theMiddle Eastbut across the world, and I’m excited to be a part of the teaching team. The academy facilities, backed by a truly outstanding golf course, are a golf professional’s dream and I can’t wait to get started,” said Victoria.

As part of her new role, and to utilise her business training, Victoria will also take on some golf operations responsibilities.

She joins Yas Links Abu Dhabi after previous roles at the David Leadbetter Academy in La Cala, Spain, and at the PGA National Training Headquarters, based at The Belfry Golf Resort, in the UK. Before turning professional Victoria enjoyed a bright amateur career, representing both her county and university.

Steven Morgan, Head Golf Professional at Yas Links Abu Dhabi said: “Victoria is extremely passionate about golf and the golf swing and this enthusiasm is very prominent within her teaching. She strongly believes in taking an individual approach with every player she teaches, maximizing their potential and building their understanding of the game.”

Yas Links Abu Dhabi– the UAE’s newest golf course and a Golf World ‘World Top 100’-ranked course – recently announced an expansion and upgrade of its golf academy that includes the installation of Trackman, a launch monitor system that uses the latest Doppler radar technology to monitor three-dimensional clubhead movement and the entire ball flight.

The venue is one of only two facilities in the region to offer this multi-functional tool, also used by the R&A and USGA to monitor equipment and player performance.

Chris White, General Manager of Aldar Properties (Golf Division), developer of Yas Links, added: “We are building an excellent team of expert PGA Professionals at Yas Links and, backed by the best technology currently available, we are in a great position to offer our guests and members a truly first-class teaching experience.”
