Topgolf has named David McKillips as Chief Executive Officer, effective February 23, tasking him with leading the company’s strategic vision and growth across its portfolio of more than 100 entertainment venues and its Toptracer technology platform.
Topgolf is still part-owned by Callaway Golf Company and majority-owned by Leonard Green & Partners following Callaway’s sale of its controlling stake at the start of 2026.
McKillips replaces Artie Starrs, who resigned from the role last July to join Harley-Davidson as CEO, prompting a delay in the planned spin-off of the entertainment chain from parent company Topgolf Callaway Brands.

McKillips most recently served as president and CEO of CEC Entertainment, where he oversaw the global expansion of restaurant chains Chuck E. Cheese and Peter Piper Pizza, and guided the company through financial restructuring. He also previously held senior leadership roles at Six Flags Entertainment, managing operations across multiple international markets and founding its sponsorship sales division and the TV network.
“Topgolf is a brand I’ve long admired; one that brings people together through unforgettable shared experiences no matter their level of interest in the game of golf,” said McKillips. “I’m honoured to lead such a talented team that has and continues to expand the Player experience through unrivalled hospitality and innovative sports technology.”
