Tiger Woods’ entry to the Open Championship was received today. He will be exempt from having to pre-qualify under a record ten categories

Tiger Woods’ entry to the Open Championship was received today by the Championship office of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club in St Andrews. He will be exempt from having to pre-qualify under a record ten categories as follows:

  • First 15 in the 2000 Open Championship
  • The Open Champions 1991 – 2000
  • The first 50 players on the Official World Ranking as at 31st May 2001
  • The US Open Champions for 1992 – 2001
  • The US Masters Champions for 1997 – 2001
  • The USPGA Champions for 1996 – 2000
  • The USPGA Tour Players Champions for 1998 – 2001
  • First 20 on the Official Money List of the USPGA Tour for 2000
  • Playing members of the 2000 President’s Cup teams
  • The Canadian Open Champion for 2000
