Jeff Mills has been promoted to Head of Golf at Slaley Hall overseeing the sales and operations of the two championship courses – the Hunting course, dubbed the Augusta of the North, and the Priestman course – after 18 months as Golf Sales Manager with De Vere Slaley Hall. Jeff, 28, has worked at a number of courses within De Vere since graduating from university with a specialist golf and business degree.
The appointment comes at a key time for Slaley Hall, having recently introduced the Country Club Membership across the Slaley Leisure Club & Spa, Golf and dining facilities. To support the country club membership, Slaley Hall have made significant investment, including the redevelopment of the members’ lounge, members’ car park, the Halfway house “the Winnebago in the woods” along with £100,000 new technogym equipment in the Gym. In addition, the De Vere Club membership will continue to offer golfers the opportunity to play all courses in the De Vere collection as part of a points-based package.
Jeff, 28, who plays off a 4 handicap, has golf in his blood and is excited by the new challenge.
He said: “I’m aiming to take golf to the next level to encourage new members, corporate and leisure visitors to enjoy our quality facilities at Slaley.
“Our golfing facilities are already on the international map but often, some of the larger golf environments are really seen as just a golf course. But at Slaley, we offer the traditional golf club atmosphere on arguably the 2 best courses in the UK maintained by renowned Golf Course and Estates Manager Stephen Cram”

In his new role, Jeff will be responsible for overseeing 20 staff and developing the golfing experience at two of the very best courses in England, which are renowned venues for European Tour and European Senior Tour events. His remit will include promoting the whole outstanding golfing experience at Slaley Hall, an Edwardian mansion set in 1,000 acres of Northumbrian woodland and moorland.
