Skolkovo Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of PGA Golf Professional Matthew Marsh as the Head Professional at Skolkovo Golf Club in Moscow. Matthew’s appointment will start in mid March in preparation for the start of the Russian Golf Season in May.
Matthew is an experienced PGA professional who has competed on the Challenge Tour, Asian Tour, Alps tour and the Euro-Pro tour. Last season he spent time working in Russia and teaching Russian clients at various European golf destinations over the winter period.
Director of Golf Nick Solski commented: “We are delighted to be welcoming Matthew to the team. Along with spending time last year in Russia, Matthew’s positive approach to coaching will be welcomed by our members. Previous experience of playing at a high level will also mean that he will be able to assist greatly with the organisation of the European tour event – The Russian Open to be held at Skolkovo in September.”
Matthew has taught people of all ages, nationalities and levels of golf from beginners to Professionals. He has started to study Russian to try and help get his message across to the members in their native language.
Matthew describes his coaching style as “holistic and tailored to the pupil, but most importantly based on creating an enjoyable learning environment. I enjoy seeing golfers exceed their own expectations within the game and encourage my pupils who are beginners to experience playing on course as soon as they have developed the basic fundamentals”
Commenting on his appointment Matthew said “I am delighted to be appointed Head Professional at Skolkovo. Having a Jack Nicklaus Signature design course so close to Moscow city centre is fantastic. I look forward to working with the members on their golf game and improving their handicaps using the fantastic facilities available at Skolkovo. The European Tour event will also be a great opportunity to develop golf in Russia, and I’m looking forward to seeing some of the world’s best professional players tee it up at Skolkovo in September.”
