Rory McIlroy has been priced up as the second favourite to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award 2025.

McIlroy, who achieved the major career grand slam when he won the Masters in April, has said that he plans to attend the ceremony in person at Media City in Salford on December 15.

He is currently being quoted at 13/8 by Betfair to take the prestigious award, with England Lioness striker Choe Kelly the even-money favourite following the Lionesses’ retention of the European Championship title this summer.

F1 driver Lando Norris follows at 11/2, while Chloe Kelly’s England teammate, Hannah Hampton, is 20/1 to claim the award. Darts sensation Luke Littler is quoted at 25/1, as is 800m runner Keely Hodgkinson, who won the award last year.

The voting for the SPOTY Award can made via phone or online once voting lines open during the live ceremony on December 15. You’ll need a free BBC account to vote online, which is limited to one vote per account. The public vote will determine the winner from a shortlist of nominees selected by a panel of experts.
