A North East golf academy has launched a ground breaking coaching program featuring the region’s leading golf experts.

The North East Golf Experts series is the first of its kind for non-elite golfers in our region and has been created by Kevin Jackson and Mark Rayson, both PGA Golf Professionals at the Ramside Hall Golf Club and Academy, near Durham City.

The duo aim to persuade recreational golfers to swap the driving range and putting green for the clubhouse to attend a year long series of events, seminars and clinics featuring top golf coaches, psychologists, fitness and nutrition experts from across Northern England.

Kevin Jackson, Head PGA Professional at Ramside Hall Golf Club and Academy, said: “In the 13 years I’ve have been teaching people to play golf at Ramside, advances in technology and golf equipment have made the game so much easier to play yet people’s scores and handicaps haven’t improved. The average player rushes onto the first tee unprepared without any warm up, practice or a composed mental approach and wonders why they struggle.”

“The Golf Experts series is the region’s first-ever open to the public series focused on practice, preparation, psychology, fitness, course management, scoring strategy and swing technique,” adds Rayson.

There are 10 seminars in the North East Golf Experts Series held throughout 2012 and each will be followed by a practical skills clinic where golfers can put what they learn into practice.

The series gets underway on 23 February with a seminar called “10 Secrets to Better Practice,” led by Gordon Morrison, an advanced PGA Professional from Linden Hall Golf Club, Northumberland.

Morrison has a degree in Sports Psychology from Northumbria University and more than 20 years experience as a golf coach.

The next two events in the North East Golf Experts Series are:

All the seminars are at Ramside Hall Golf Club. Starting at 6.30 pm they cost £20, with members of Ramside Hall Golf Club receiving a discounted rate of £15.

Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club is the largest privately owned hotel and golf resort in North East England. Ramside Estates Ltd is a family run business, owned and operated by the Adamson family, and has three hotels in County Durham; Ramside Hall Hotel, Hardwick Hall Hotel and Bowburn Hall Hotel. It celebrates its 50th anniversary as a hospitality business in 2013.

The Ramside Hall Golf Academy is one of the leading golf teaching facilities in the North and has a 16 bay driving range, chipping and bunker play area and putting green.

PGA Qualified Teaching Professionals Kevin Jackson and Mark Rayson have more than 22 years teaching experience between them and specialize in helping golfers of all abilities, from beginner to elite players, to improve their performance in golf.

A range of golf lessons are available, from lessons based on improving the golf swing to playing lessons which take place on the golf course aimed at improving the way a player manages the challenges posed by the golf course and weather conditions.

Golfers can join the Ramside Hall Golf Academy on an “Academy Membership,” enabling them to use the short game practice facilities and putting green and enjoy discounts on driving range balls and lessons for an annual fee of £120 including V.A.T.

Ramside Estates Ltd began work on a £15m leisure development including a new 18-hole golf course, spa, leisure centre, hotel expansion and residential housing project in January 2012.

The new golf course is expected to open for limited play in September 2013 and for full use by 2014. For more visit: www.ramsidehallhotel.co.uk
