Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, part of award-winning hotel group QHotels, is delighted to announce the arrival of PGA Golf Professional Craig Brown who is joining the hotel as the new Golf Professional.
Craig has been playing golf since he was 8 years old; he became Junior Captain at Penn Golf Club at the age of 15 and began training for his PGA in 2004 when he was a member of Enville Golf Club in Staffordshire. Over the last 12 years he has represented Staffordshire County, winning many league victories as well as achieving the Staffordshire County Badge for 15 match wins at Senior Level.
Most recently he was a Golf Professional at the Swindon Golf Club in Wolverhampton where he built up a reputation as an excellent teaching professional, having coached golfers at all levels.
“Craig is an extremely experienced golf professional and an excellent teacher with a particular forte in coaching juniors.” commented General Manager of Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, Ben Bridgeman. “Overlooking the stunning Severn Valley and Ironbridge Gorge, our 18-hole championship course is a challenge to both beginners and scratch golfers alike and I know Craig relishes the opportunity to work with guests, members and day visitors on improving their technique.
“Craig will play a big part in helping to build on the current success of our junior section and hopes to continue to develop the ladies membership, as well as encouraging new members to come along and try the course.”
Set in 170 acres of parkland and attractively lined with mature oaks, pines and Blue Canadian Spruce, the 18-hole, 72 par course has recently been enhanced with additional aeration and top dressing works carried out to ensure firmer, smoother greens. The new ‘Gorge’ restaurant overlooking the signature 18th hole was opened last year and additional enhancements to the spa provides guests and members with the ideal ‘end of round’ relaxation.
