Picturesque north-west golf course and resort Bentham Golf Course in Wenningdale welcomes a new asset to the team in the form of Golf Professional Sophie Daws (pictured) who joined the team from 18 September.
Sophie has been Head Professional at Cave Hotel and Golf Resort in Kent since 2020 and is now enjoying working and living amid the dramatic northern scenery of Bentham Golf Course which is surrounded by Yorkshire’s Three Peaks with long distance views of the Lake District and Forest of Bowland fells.
Sophie comes with a first-class reputation in the golfing world as an expert at the forefront of modern golf coaching but she is as comfortable coaching primary school children as she is working with focussed plus handicap players. Her utilisation of modern teaching techniques including Foresight GC QUAD technology, ensures pupils receive the best possible levels of tuition.
She has been playing golf since the age of six, learning with her father and competing with her brother. She gained her first handicap at 12 years old and by the time she was 17 had achieved a handicap of one.
As a Junior she represented her club and county at an elite level going on to become Kent Ladies Champion of Champions and was selected to be part of the England training scheme.
Her relaxed and enthusiastic approach to golf tuition helps players of all abilities to learn through positive feedback, advice, swing data and problem solving. She recently focused on coaching a disability academy with Kent Golf and worked at The Open for the PGA on three occasions in the Swingzone.
Adults and children of all ages and abilities are invited to join Sophie in her new autumn coaching programme at Bentham Golf Course which offers group classes for juniors as well as one-to-one coaching for beginners and experienced players looking to improve their game.
