New Chairman for the EGIA

9.00am 16th February 2000 - People

At the Annual General Meeting of the EGIA held yesterday at The Wentworth Club Cliff Dews was elected Chairman of the Association for a term of two years.

Cliff has been involved in the sports shoe industry for all 28 years of his working life, firstly in sales roles at Nike, Hi-Tec and Etonic and more recently as Sales & Marketing Manager Europe for Stylo Matchmakers. For the past two years Cliff has been Operations Manager at Spalding Sports in Cambridge although he still resides in Manchester with his wife and two sons.

Playing off an apparently valid handicap of 15, Cliff is well-known for his 5-iron tee shots and has only recently added a driver and 3 wood to his bag. Commenting on his election, Cliff said he was ‘honoured and delighted to become EGIA Chairman’ and looking forward to working with his colleagues on the EGIA Executive Committee to continue the development of the Association.

The other members of the EGIA Executive Committee are: Bob Clark (Bruce Clark Scotland), John Clark (Ping Europe), John Ennis (MacGregor), Graham Guy (Acushnet), Marcus Illingworth (USP Brands), Paul McNally (Dunlop Slaznger), Lynda Rawlings (Apollo Sports Technologies), Bob Smith (RDA Smith), Paul Steels (Golf Pride Grips) and Warren Sunderland (Sunderland of Scotland).
