John Hunt is taking up a new consultancy role at the UK’s leading clubhouse design team, Club Class Design.
After fourteen successful years as the General Manager at The Berkshire and as a widely respected figure in the golf club management circles in the UK and Europe, John Hunt brings a new dimension to the personalities and capabilities at Club Class Design, as director David Hales explains: “I worked closely with John on the interior design aspects when The Berkshire’s clubhouse was being transformed.”
“His knowledge and experience will be invaluable, as he’s in the ideal position to advise and guide other clubs and their management teams when it comes to handling major refurbishment projects. We are all absolutely delighted that he’s accepted our invitation to come on board and help Club Class Design to develop and grow.”

After a very rewarding military career that took him all over the world, Colonel John Hunt took on the management of The Berkshire GC. He oversaw its transition into one of the handful of clubs that, as he expressed it, ‘sits at the top table’ in terms of prestigious golf experiences for private membership and society golf.
Recognising the market changes and the impact they would have on The Berkshire as a golf club, he led the club in determining a strategy that would see the course enhanced and improved, and the clubhouse extended and modernised in terms of its operation capabilities as well as its overall ambience.
Hunt reflects on that decision to modernise: “The investment made by the club was significant but essential, as the market we competed in was changing rapidly, and our members, guests and visitors had come to expect a top quality offering on and off the course in terms of service, catering, and experience. It’s with great pride that I can say that The Berkshire is now one the finest clubs in theUK, and punches well above its weight when it comes to competing at the top table.”
