English Golf Union
- Job Title: Director of Coaching
- Salary: £65-70k negotiable
- Location: Woodhall Spa, Lincs
- Job Type: Permanent
- Closing Date: 25 February 2005
The English Golf Union (EGU) was established in 1924 and is the governing body for male amateur golf in England. The EGU arranges major amateur tournaments and looks after the interests of over 1,910 affiliated golf clubs, including some 740,000 club members.
Golf has been identified as one of the Top Ten priority sports by Sport England which means that, as a sport, it will receive priority funding for the continued development and expansion of the game. Recently, it has been granted a total of £9.3m for the development of the game over a four year period to 2009.
As a direct consequence of the above funding, and of the development of a Whole Sport Plan for golf in England, the EGU wishes to appoint a Director of Coaching.
The jobholder will be responsible for achievement of the ‘Succeed‘ element of golf’s Whole Sport Plan which includes the coaching programmes and continuous performance improvement of golfers from under the age of 12 through to England’s elite amateur golfers.
An accomplished programme manager, the Director of Coaching will manage a small, local team at Woodhall Spa and lead and direct a large volunteer support group, many of whom work through one or more of the EGU’s committee structure.
This is a new and extremely high profile role which has arisen at a crucial period in the long term development of high performance golf in England. In addition to coaching and programme management experience, ideal candidates will demonstrate leadership, motivational skills and outstanding communication expertise with a broad range of stakeholders.
An attractive package is in place to attract the best candidates and the salary is negotiable for an outstanding candidate.
If you believe that you have the strength of character and coaching/programme acumen to deliver in a high performance environment, please apply before 25th February 2005 by one of the following means:
