Approved training providers from across the UK and Ireland will be gathering in North Yorkshire on 10th July for a Greenkeepers Training Committee event aimed at raising standards and boosting the partnership with the golf industry.
The annual gathering, to which all 28 of the GTC’s approved training providers are invited, will take the form of a practical workshop from which feedback will be used by the GTC to brief awarding bodies and the turf industry.
David Golding, GTC Education Director, commented, “This is a once-a-year opportunity for providers to get together with us in an atmosphere of practical co-operation to discuss a range of issues of common interest.
“This year the workshop will particularly focus on standards, assessment and verification of the revised NVQs and SVQs in Sportsturf (Levels 2 and 3), together with a review of Level 4 training. We also aim to discuss issues relating to the Modern Apprenticeship in Amenity Horticulture, and other related vocational qualifications.
“The event gives providers a voice in the dialogue the GTC has with the awarding bodies and is an important chance to share ideas for raising standards. Building a successful partnership between the trainers and the golf industry is crucial to the future development of the sport.”
The venue for the event is the GTC headquarters at Aldwark Manor Hotel and Country Club, near York.
