Greg Pearse, a senior golf marketing executive with the adidas group for the past 14 years, has become Managing Director of Galvin Green (UK & Ireland).
“Greg has all the qualities that we were looking for in this very important position overseeing our biggest market,” said Galvin Green CEO/MD Christian Nilsson. “We believe he will make a big impression on our business and help move the brand even further forward.”
Galvin Green currently dominates the outerwear sector in Europe’s largest golf market and is also one of the leading apparel brands thanks to its Multi-layer concept.
“It’s a very exciting business to join as we’ve come a long way in a relatively short period of time and there are big plans across the globe,” said Greg. “There are lots of opportunities for us in the coming years and with the market shifting to more innovative and technical fabrics, I see ourselves and the apparel market in total growing.
“Market research shows that our inventory percentage levels at retail are generally much lower than our sales – which highlights how well we are turning stock for our valued customers. Sell out and service is everything and we’re determined to excel on both whilst ensuring we maintain our premium and aspirational brand status,” he added.
Commenting on last week’s announcement that Galvin Green has been selected as a new Official Supplier to Europe’s Ryder Cup teams in 2016 and 2018, he said: “This represents a huge opportunity to showcase our product innovation and brand validation. Having the best players in Europe performing in Galvin Green is great for our brand and our customers. It’s a great premium message to help them drive even stronger conversion in their stores.”
Greg, 37, is a 12-handicap golfer who began playing as a junior at Wells GC in Somerset. A Bristol Rovers fan by birth, he now lives in Bournemouth and has become an adopted Cherries’ supporter and big admirer of the leadership skills of manager Eddie Howe.
Greg has taken over the role, based at the Weybridge HQ and showroom, from Mike Johnson-Hill, who now becomes non-executive chairman of the UK Limited company.
