Global Turf Equipment (GTE) – the world’s largest independent seller and exporter of pre-owned golf course equipment – announces 35-year turf industry veteran Bob Buckingham has been named Director of Operations for Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.
Buckingham will be charged with growing GTE’s market presence in the aforementioned regions. A certified engineer, he spent more than two decades at Toro working with the company’s full product portfolio and holding titles like Director of Sales and Director of Distributor & New Business Development. His duties focused on expanding emerging markets and elevating the brand to the leadership position it enjoys to this day. He began his sales career in the 1980s with Ransomes Jacobsen, developing myriad partners for the company in the U.S., Canada and Western Europe.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Bob aboard as our company embarks on its next phase of overseas development,” says Jim Sartain, president, Global Turf Equipment. “His extensive network of contacts and vast industry experience will serve us well as we broaden our European distribution network and, at the same time, seek to further penetrate countries that hold great promise for future development in the Pacific Rim, Africa and Middle East.”
Serving golf facilities in more than 80 countries worldwide and all 50 U.S. states, GTE offers substantial cost savings to golf course owners, operators, and superintendents with late model alternatives to brand-new machines.
GTE’s 30,000 square-foot USA headquarters stocks more than 650 pieces of equipment, including fairway mowers, greens mowers, top dressers, turf aerators, sprayers, utility vehicles and more.
Earlier this year, GTE established an overseas partnership with the U.K.’s County Mowers as the first step in long-term plans to strengthen its European distribution network. A new facility in Denmark followed as the next phase in GTE’s European expansion.
