Golf club management consultancy GGA Partners has appointed Liz McDowell as a director to serve across the firm’s practice areas, including strategic planning, transaction advisory, governance and analytics.
A chartered professional accountant and certified club manager, Liz boasts over 10 years’ experience as a private club manager. She is active across the golf industry, serving on several association and private club advisory boards and their committees.
Liz delivers educational sessions and programs, having been a featured speaker and panellist within the club industry, and served as the subject matter expert for PGA Ontario’s ‘Finance Essentials for Golf Industry Leaders’ course. She has also supported student CPAs with academic mentorship through the CPA, CA designation process, and spent three seasons as an evaluator of the National CPA, CA proficiency examination, now known as the CFE.
Prior to pursuing a career in the private club industry in 2011, Liz gained experience on the audits of major publicly held clients in manufacturing, retail, and distribution, as well as in accounting for privately held businesses and taxation.
GGA Partner Derek Johnston said: “With Liz’s professional services background and recent experience with the sales process for a member-owned private club, she will be contributing to several GGA service offerings and strengthening our position as the top management consulting firm and boutique transaction advisory firm in the golf, private club, resort and residential community space.”
Speaking about her new role, McDowell commented: “I am thrilled to join the GGA team and look forward to supporting our impressive roster of clients. My background and experience are completely aligned with GGA’s longstanding legacy within the golf, private club, resort and residential community business segments.”
