As Gary Player stepped up to the first tee during this year’s Masters Tournament in his Honorary Starter role, he was proudly sporting just one club – the new Callaway RAZR Fit Driver that helped him to outdrive fellow “The Big Three” members Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
Besides being his club of choice, the Black Knight has proudly been a global ambassador to Callaway Golf for over ten years and is pleased to announce the continuation of their longstanding relationship.
“Callaway continues to be one of the very finest companies in the golf industry and aligns themselves with top international golfers,” said Gary Player. “I am proud to continue to be a member of the Callaway family.”
A company focusing on innovation and enjoyment of the game, Callaway creates products for the entire spectrum of golfers. Staff professionals range from up-and-comers like Branden Grace to today’s top golfers including Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els, and finally to golfing icons Gary Player and Arnold Palmer, something that the late Ely Callaway would be proud of today.
“I really admired Mr. Callaway for his innovative thinking and passion for the game. The Callaway team is a great group and has carried on the wonderful spirit of Ely. After being a part of Callaway for over ten years now, I could not be more pleased with the relationship.”
Player’s involvement in the company extends past just sporting the chevron logo. He has advised club development throughout the relationship and loves testing new equipment at the Ely Callaway Performance Centre in Carlsbad, California. This month, Player will be testing the 2013 equipment and looks forward to the new technologies developed under new CEO Chip Brewer.
“The technology in golf today is just amazing,” said Player. “The products innovations by Callaway make such a difference all around have helped me continue to compete at a level that defies my age. After all, great shots are the fountain of youth.”
In addition to his role as global ambassador, Gary Player continues to host several corporate events and outings annually.
On 19th October Player will host the grand opening of the Ely Callaway Golf and Learning Centre at the Pro Kids/First Tee Facility in Oceanside, California. The Golf and Learning Centre will provide life-skills classes and scholastic assistance in addition to golf lessons, clinics, and other developmental programs for young people.
A shared aspiration to make a difference in the lives of young people has also led Callaway to lend their support to The Player Foundation, which focuses on the education and aid of underprivileged children around the world. Callaway sponsors the global Gary Player Invitational and also renewed their generous support to continue bettering the lives of needy children.
“The reciprocity of our relationship with Callaway is outstanding,” said Marc Player, CEO of Black Knight International. “They continue to go above and beyond their obligations as a corporate partner and have been an integral part in assisting the success of the GPI Series and Gary Player Foundation around the globe.”
