A golf PR agency is celebrating in style after reaching a number of important milestones in time for its five-year anniversary. Based in Scotland , marketing and PR agency The Word Association has enjoyed its most successful year to date increasing its client portfolio, doubling its number of staff and launching a new product range.

The company, formed by husband-and-wife team Mark and Yvonne Alexander, represents golf businesses in Scotland and beyond with clients based in Poland , Portugal and Denmark . Reaching its five-year landmark has been an important highlight for the agency according to partner Yvonne Alexander.

“We are in an exciting phase of development,” she explained. “We are expanding and have started working with clients in Portugal and Denmark promoting specific regions as up-and-coming golf destinations. We have also been working with a number of high-profile clients in Scotland and expanding our services to include social media management and video production. The way we communicate is changing and we are pleased to be helping our clients make the most of these new opportunities.”

Founded in 2008, The Word Association is establishing itself as one of the leading consultancies in the golf industry. Continuing its success, the company recently took on a new member of staff to co-ordinate its social media strategies. Graduate of Robert Gordon’s University in Aberdeen , Ruairidh Macdonald was named Young Person of the Year at this year’s Golf Tourism Scotland Awards held last month at Cameron House Hotel.

“Ruairidh thoroughly deserves his award and we are thrilled for him,” said Yvonne. “He brings to the table a passion for golf, communication and social media that we share at The Word Association. Golf is set to shine over the coming months and years with the Ryder Cup and a host of other golf tournaments taking place on our doorstep. Ruairidh’s appointment cements our position in the market place and underlines our commitment to raising our clients’ profiles not only in Europe but throughout the world.”

Ruairidh said: “The Word Association has given me an opportunity to enter the industry I love with a degree relevant to my job. The energy and experience that Yvonne and Mark have is infectious and it has allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in a dynamic setting with a proven track record. With so much happening and the range of clients we promote, the work is always different and exciting.”

Working alongside Yvonne is her husband and award-winning photographer Mark Alexander. Mark has recently launched a set of photographic golf greetings cards which are being sold at various outlets in his home town of St Andrews . The set of four cards, entitled The St Andrews Collection, encapsulate the beauty of the town’s golf courses from a unique and personal perspective.

“We are looking forward to 2014,” said Yvonne. “We launched our business five years ago when the economic recession first started. Now with the golf sector showing signs of improvement, we have high hopes for the future.”
