Basingstoke Golf Club has moved to strengthen its golf course management team with the appointment of Jake Field as new course manager as the ambitious Hampshire club continues to plan for the future.
Field will take up his new job in February after spending the last five years as course manager at Edgbaston Golf Club, where he earned widespread recognition for the conditioning and presentation of the Birmingham club’s layout after overseeing a significant period of development.
Field also has extensive greenkeeping experience abroad having held senior positions and placements at PGA National Sweden and Harbour Town Links in South Carolina – a regular venue on the PGA Tour – and he is relishing the prospect of his new role as Basingstoke continues preparations for the official opening of its redesigned course next spring.
“It will be very emotional for me to leave Edgbaston after five unforgettable years, but the opportunity at Basingstoke Golf Club is something that fills me with real excitement,” said Field. “The club has entered a new chapter with its impressive downland course and facilities and to help guide its next phase is a privilege. My family and I are looking forward to relocating and becoming part of the community. I’m incredibly grateful to Basingstoke for giving me this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started.”

Basingstoke Golf Club relocated to its new home in Dummer in 2021 and has since undergone a major redevelopment, including an 18-hole championship downland course by Weller Designs, a modern clubhouse and ongoing investment in practice facilities as part of a £20 million transformation.
Basingstoke Golf Club general manager David Green said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jake to Basingstoke. His achievements at Edgbaston speak for themselves, but it was his drive, technical expertise and clear passion for agronomy that really stood out and made him the outstanding candidate.
“This is an important appointment for the club as we continue our work transforming the course and facilities and Jake is the right person to lead that work. We look forward to supporting him as he settles in and begins shaping the next stage of our development.”
