Sport Relief aims to unite the world of sport to raise money for children and young people both at home and across the world. Along with Marriott Hotels, the English Golf Union is supporting Sport Relief to promote fundraising through the game of golf by inspiring the whole of the UK to get active during this year’s great summer of sport.
The campaign will run up to Saturday 13th July culminating in a block busting night on BBC One of sport, celebrities, entertainment, and fundraising. Alan Hansen, sports and TV personality launched the golf partnership with Sport Relief. “We in the sporting world are pleased – even honoured – to be part of such a good cause,” he said. “With your help, we can make Sport Relief a resounding success”
All EGU affiliated golf clubs will receive details of Sport Relief, encouraging members to’Pay to Play’ with the aim of getting everyone involved. “Pay to Play is easy to do,” said EGU golf development manager Richard Flint. “whether you have a’Pay to Play weekend’ – where everyone makes a donation to play that weekend, organise a hole in one competition or pay a fine every time you end up in a bunker, there are lots of great ways to raise money when you hit the fairways this summer.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to combine a sport they love with raising money for a fantastic cause.”
