John Makepeace has just delivered and installed his last Dry Rainge at Scarcroft Golf Club. John is retiring after importing and distributing Dry Rainge products for over 10 years.

John first came across Dry Rainge at the PGA Merchandising Show in Orlando in 2004. “It seemed inconceivable that a quality product designed to protect players and coaches from wind and rain would not succeed in the UK,” he says.

And so it proved with sales of nearly 200 units. As well as supplying the UK market, John has successfully sold Dry Rainges to Golf Clubs in Scandinavia, throughout Europe and the Middle East, particularly The Emirates and Saudi Arabia where they give protection against harmful UV rays.

“We have done very little marketing apart from some advertising in GRN. The product has really sold itself. One of our first customers was the Nick Faldo Institute at Brocket Hall who bought three units from me and somehow the word seemed to spread from there. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with such a great product and have had great pleasure in building the brand, I also think that we can take pride in providing a really first class service to all our customers and there remains tremendous potential for further growth.”

John and Dry Rainge are currently seeking a successor to take over the UK distributorship and will be happy to talk to interested parties.
