This month Rainer Preissmann, managing director of Deutsche Golf Holding and a senior member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) since the amalgamation in 2000, celebrated both his 60th birthday and his 30th year as a golf course architect.

Rainer was born on 11th June 1948. He studied landscape architecture in Essen and at the Technical University in Hannover. In June 1978 he set up in business as a golf course architect in a practice known as Deutsche Golf Consult together with his former partner Karl Grohs.

He now has over 30 years experience in golf course architecture and design and has been involved in projects in more than 15 countries worldwide.

Since 2005 he has operated his own business under the label of Deutsche Golf Holding, together with Dipl. Ing. Baron Maximilian von Wendt. Baron von Wendt, born in 1945, studied landscape architecture in Osnabrà¼ck and is now the technical director of DGH.

Having now completed over 50 golf courses and worked on around 200 worldwide under both labels means that Dipl. Ing. Rainer Preissmann and Deutsche Golf Holding is one of the most experienced companies in the golf business.

Rainer Preissman says that his firm is a competent partner in the development, design and construction of golf course projects for private and commercial investors as well as for municipal authorities.

“DGH provides advice and planning that have set new quality standards in the construction of scenic golf courses, due to its many years of experience and technical know-how,” he said.

“DGH prides itself in designing golf courses that satisfy the requirements of every level of playing ability. This makes the sport enjoyable for all golfers,” he continued. “The practice has a highly experienced staff and also works closely in an advisory capacity with other experts within the golf industry. Clients have always received value for money because customer satisfaction is a major priority for Deutsche Golf Holding.”

Rainer Preissmann believes that good landscape architecture is the basis for constructing scenic golf courses which are in harmony with the environment.

Beside his golf course design work he is well known as a lecturer in golf course design related topics as well as a writer of articles in national and international golf publication. He is a key member of the education team of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects and in this way he is passing on his ideas and experience for the benefit of future generations.
