Direct Golf UK, Europe’s leading multi-channel golf retailer, has announced the appointment of Simon Corp as Offline Marketing Manager.
Corp, a PGA Professional, has a wealth of experience having worked with Direct Golf UK for eight years and most recently headed up the marketing for John Letters. Simon takes over from Jared Wood, who left the business last Friday due to personal reasons.
Simon will be responsible overseeing the Direct Golf UK direct mail, print advertising, Direct Golf TV and special events like The Open. James Toase, Direct Sales, Purchasing and Marketing Director, commented: “During the past few months while Jared has been absent from the business, Simon has stepped into fill the gap. He has done a fantastic job and made it a very easy decision for us to appoint him to the role on a full-time basis.”

The changes provide the opportunity for the British-based retailer to not only re-structure but bolster their senior team at their Huddersfield Head Office as they embark on their next phase of their growth and expansion strategy. Recent appointments include a new Financial Controller, Technical Director, Digital Marketing Manager and Commercial Manager as Direct Golf UK further reinforces the company’s commitment to grow and improve all aspects of their business.
The news follows a record start to 2012 for Direct Golf UK, with the British retailer on-course to post its third-consecutive record year. Despite the challenging economic conditions, Direct Golf continues to buck the trend of retail businesses across the UK and half-year results show revenues are up 23% and profits on track to be 40% up on 2011.
As part of the reorganisation, newly recruited Commercial Manager Steve Lewis will be responsible for overseeing all of Direct Golf UK’s commercial partnerships as well as identifying new commercial opportunities including a new membership scheme, third party revenue generation and PR.
