Leading sports turf renovation and maintenance machinery supplier, Campey Turf Care Systems, has appointed Steve Hunt as area product specialist for the South West region of the UK.

Steve takes over from the irrepressible Ian Pogson who will be stepping back from front line selling in 2015, taking on a more ambassadorial role. He will be promoting the benefits and advantages of natural turf in sport through seminars and open days.

Poggy, as he is affectionately known within the trade, is currently showing Steve the ropes. He will be introducing him to many of the regions dealers and customers who already have strong relationships with Campeys.

Steve aged 45, lives in Wincanton, Somerset with his partner Jo and two children. Until recently he worked in sales for leading Dutch firm BOSTA selling components to the water industry.

Steve developed an interest in sports turf maintenance as voluntary head groundsman for his local cricket club, forming close links with his regional IOG branch. This experience will stand him in good stead when advising groundsmen and greenkeepers on turf maintenance and renovation in the future.

Richard Campey is pleased Steve is joining the team. “It’s important to keep our sales team at full capacity. Steve is enthusiastic and has a genuine interest in the industry as well as a good solid sales background.”

Steve will be responsible for selling equipment from some of the most respected grounds care machinery manufacturers in the world including Dakota, Imants, Koro, Raycam, Vredo, Omarv, Votex and GT Air 2G2 injector.

“No doubt, with a little instruction from one of the finest characters in the business (Poggy), added Richard with a chuckle. “He will soon be making his mark.”
