Vattanac Golf Resort, a luxury Troon Golf facility in Cambodia, has moved to bolster its management team with two senior appointments.
Damian McHugh, who boasts 25 years of experience across Cambodia, China and the UAE, will join as the new General Manager, whilst Brad Cheng, a Class A Golf Course Superintendent from the GCSAA, takes up the role of Agronomy Director.
The appointment of the duo aligns with the resort’s continuous ambitions of enhancing its operational excellence. Located in the vibrant city of Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Vattanac Golf Resort features 36 holes of championship golf designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The courses incorporate elements inspired by Khmer architecture and Cambodia’s rich history, showcasing large-scale replicas that reflect the country’s cultural heritage.

A seasoned British PGA Professional with a career spanning over 20 years in the golf industry across Europe, the Middle East and China, McHugh has worked in high end golf clubs in Asia gaining unparallel expertise in construction, pre-opening phases and transitioning to fully operational facilities.
With a deep understanding of diverse markets and cultures, creating tailored strategies to meet unique demands of luxury golf clubs, McHugh is known for innovation and attention to detail while culturing a strong team environment and enhanced guest experience.
He has been actively involved in some of the most prestigious events in the golfing world, including HSBC Championships and PGA Tour events. His expertise in event planning and execution has contributed to the success of these tournaments, ensuring seamless operations and an exceptional experience for players, sponsors and guests.
The appointment of Brad Cheng, with his extensive credentials and international experience, make him a valuable addition to Vattanac Golf Resort’s leadership team.
Cheng’s track record of managing high-profile tournaments like the HSBC Champions and Buick Championship reflects his expertise in delivering world-class course conditions, whilst a commitment to excellence and sustainability is evident in his vision for elevating the resort’s standards.
