The Abaco Club on Great Abaco Island, The Bahamas, has announced the appointment of Michael Flint as the resort’s new General Manager.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the private club and residential community as it undergoes a multi-million-dollar investment in new residential real estate developments, amenities and member services.
Flint will spearhead all aspects of The Abaco Club as it undergoes its transformation, prioritising service excellence, elevating member experiences, and establishing a dynamic and skilled team.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Flint brings a wealth of experience, with over 35 years in the luxury club and resort industry. Since starting his career with The Ritz-Carlton Hotels in 1987, Flint has ascended through the ranks, initially on the food & beverage side, honing his expertise at luxury establishments such as Boca Raton Club & Resort, Delano Hotel in Miami, Sanderson & St. Martin’s Lane Hotels in London, and PPHE Hotel Group.
After transitioning to operations management, Flint’s career includes leadership roles at The Albany in The Bahamas and, most recently, Mövenpick Hotel & Residences and Muthaiga Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to The Abaco Club,” said Southworth President Tommy Southworth. “His extensive experience leading prestigious member- and guest-focused organizations around the world, and his rich knowledge in club operations, member experience and team leadership, align perfectly with our vision of delivering a best-in-class array of services and experiences for our members.”
Originally developed by the late Peter de Savary, The Abaco Club was acquired in 2014 from Ritz-Carlton by Southworth Development. It boasts a 7,123-yard, 18-hole championship links-style course designed by Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie which first opened for play in 2004.
