A rare business opportunity

One of the world’s leading specialist golf booksellers is on the market. Bob and Shirley Grant want to find someone to take over the business that they established more than 30 years ago to allow them to concentrate on publishing

There are very few specialist golf booksellers in the world and so the opportunity to acquire such a business as a going concern happens perhaps once in every generation. This is one of those moments as Grant Books, the mail order golf book selling business established by Bob and Shirley Grant in 1971 – probably the premier golf booksellers, world wide, of both antiquarian, old, out of print and new golf books – is offered for sale on the open market.
Grant Books operates within a niche market. Fully computerised, the sales are through catalogues, a secure website and the internet. Located in the West Midlands, UK the Grant Books partnership has built up a unique role in golf book sales, publishing and distribution. “Our aim is to provide for the discerning reader the more unusual titles in the world of golf – new, old and out of print,” says Bob Grant.
Bob and Shirley will now concentrate on their publishing business, which continues apace. As Bob says, “Today we have published ‘The Centenary History Of The Worcestershire Union Of Golf Clubs’ and next month we will publish ‘The Royal Aberdeen Golfers: 225 Years On The Links’. Next year we will publish ‘Golf Course Design: An annotated bibliography and highlight of its history and resources’ by Geoffrey Cornish and Mike Hurdzan.
