Paultons Golf Centre in Hampshire has appointed two new PGA Professionals to its golf management team.
David Green assumes the role of Director of Golf and Rob Edwards becomes the club’s new Senior PGA Professional, meaning the club now has over 100 years of PGA Experience within the team.
Green is a well-known figure in the PGA South region, having previously been Director of Golf at Farnham Park, Croham Hurst and, most recently, Head Professional at Wildernesse Club.
Joanne Tomey, Paulton’s General Manager, said: “Firstly, I am delighted that we have been able to appoint two such high calibre professionals. David’s enthusiasm to bring golf to all, and to make golf more welcoming and accessible, will undoubtedly benefit everyone that comes to play at Paultons GC. This, along with his service driven attitude, as well as support from Rob and our other PGA professionals, will help us make yet more positive improvements to our all-round customer experience.”
She added: “David’s background is second to none, having been Captain of the PGA in Kent, Vice Chairman and Board Member of the PGA in England (South), awarded PGA in England (South) PGA Professional of the Year and is an accredited Fellow PGA Professional.”
Green has been a PGA Professional since 1995 and has been fortunate enough to have worked alongside, played with and received tuition from some of the country’s leading professionals, including David Whelan and Andrew Nicholson of the Leadbetter Academy and, more recently, Clive Tucker, coach to European Tour players David Howell and Graeme McDowell. These coaches have enhanced Green’s own style of teaching and allowed him to develop his own techniques, ethos and ideas.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such an up-and-coming club, which puts the enjoyment of both its members and loyal visitors at the heart of its operation,” said Green. “I am looking forward to working closely with the team to build on the successes that have already been achieved since the current owners acquired the club in the summer of 2019.”
Rob Edwards has been a PGA Professional for over 30 years, a former No.1 in the PGA South Region, winner on Challenge Tour and European Tour Member. He brings with him a wealth of coaching experience, having held the positions of County School of Excellence and Junior Coach. A former Regional Captain and Chairman of the PGA, he has also worked as a PGA Referee and Tournament Controller.
