TaylorMade extends P•700 irons range

TaylorMade Golf has added three new sets of irons to its P•700 range in the shape of the P•7MB, P•7MC and P•770 irons.

The P•770 carries the same name as its earlier mode but features a host of new design elements. It is a slightly more compact version of the P•790, which is played by a wide range of golfers. Its smaller head shape will suit better players, while also offering more feedback, while its higher launch angle with long irons and additional spin will also meet the performance demands of more skilled players.

In comparison to the P•790, the P•770 has a thinner topline, narrower sole and shorter blade length. The smaller construction helps inspire confidence at address, while also promoting enhanced workability and control.

The irons feature a forged hollow body constructed of soft carbon steel with a thin steel face to promote fast ball speeds. Progressive Inverted Cone Technology is positioned differently in each iron to increase the sweet spot and minimise the effects of common miss-hits. Urethane foam injected inside the head is engineered to push the design limits of face speed while also improving feel.

However, because P•770 is a smaller head shape it naturally offers less forgiveness than P•790. To offset this, MOI has been boosted by strategically positioning tungsten weights within each head. Present in the 3-7 irons and weighing up to 46g, the tungsten inserts are positioned towards the toe for precise centre of gravity placement and increased forgiveness.

P•7MC & P•7MB
Both the P•7MC and P•7MB are classic players irons. They are made using a new grain forging process that creates 2-3 times greater pressure than traditional forging to creates a tighter grain structure to deliver more consistent feel and performance. The high pressure forging also produces a head that requires minimal hand polishing for a repeatable, precise geometry.

The P•7MB is a tour-inspired muscle back that boasts a thin topline, minimal offset and a narrow sole. Forged from carbon steel with a machine-milled face that features the most aggressive grooves in the range for shot making and control. A backbar delivers precise CG placement and mass properties for optimal performance.

The P•7MC is a tour-inspired muscle cavity iron with minimal offset to deliver control and precision, while perimeter weighting offers an element of forgiveness. Based on the P•750 irons used by tour pros such as Jon Rahm and US PGA champion Collin Morikawa, enhancements include moving mass up behind the face to support the point of impact.

A subtly placed ‘T-Bug’, with a high-buff finish, is formed during the forging process as a sophisticated nod to craftsmanship and aesthetics. Completed with a Tour satin finish and muscle cavity geometry, P•7MC will visually match either P•7MB or P•770 in a combo set.

Fitted with KBS Tour steel shafts (X 130g, S 120g) and Golf Pride Z-Grips in grey/black, all three irons are available for pre-order on August 14, and at retail from September  4.
RRP: £1,299/€1,399 for a 7-club set (3-PW/AW).
