ProQuip has joined forces with Colin Montgomerie, victorious 2010 Ryder Cup captain and eight-time European Tour Order of Merit winner, to create a new technically advanced, highly breathable performance rain suit, the ‘Colin Montgomerie by ProQuip’.
Inspired and co-designed by Colin himself, the suit utilises ProQuip’s award-winning fabric technology and marries technical quality, professional performance and classic styling with some personal touches that Monty himself helped to create.
The unique suit features the Montgomerie family tartan on the inner mesh lining of the jacket, and a subtly positioned ‘Colin Montgomerie’ motif on the front right sleeve panel and again on the reverse of the jacket. Monty detailing is also found on the backside trouser flap and down the bottom panel of the right leg.
Monty said: “It is special to be given the opportunity to create my own ‘signature’ throughout this product, especially as much of the detailing is personal to me, and because our Montgomerie family tartan lines each suit.
“I’ve enjoyed the performance benefits of ProQuip weatherwear during many Ryder Cups and their reliability was never more relevant than at the 2010 Ryder Cup where we were kept safe from the elements by our ProQuip gear.”
The Colin Montgomerie by ProQuip rain suit has been carefully designed using ProQuip’s award-winning Ultralite fabric which is lightweight, highly breathable and provides waterproof protection, backed by the company’s standard three-year guarantee.
Waterproof ‘pocket bags’ ensure no moisture leaks through to the skin from wet hands or equipment, while water repellent front and pocket snap-down zips offer ultimate protection from the rain.
Colin added: “Ultimately this product is about giving every golfer the best protection and performance, whether competing at the highest level or playing a social round with friends.
As a golfer, it is essential you have complete confidence and comfort from your weatherwear and this was of primary importance as we discussed the design of this new suit.”
ProQuip General Manager Russell Brooks said: “Colin has taken great pride in his involvement with the rain suit and with his considerable experience from the Ryder Cup and the European Tour he has provided valuable insight to deliver a suit that performs week in and week out in all weather, for golfers of any ability.
“To then give this suit a personal design ‘nod’ to Monty himself makes it a very special product that both ProQuip and Colin are rightly very proud of.”
