Match Play World, the cloud-based golf match management platform that first introduced the concept of the Match Play Matrix format, which ensures that the final stages of matchplay events involve more than just a head-to-head final, has launched a new format called Match Play Teams.
In the world of sport nothing beats the drama and passion of team match play, whether it is the Ryder Cup in golf or the Davis Cup in tennis, team match play creates drama that has everyone on the edge of their seats. Now Match Play World enables you to bring that excitement to your club or social group with Match Play Teams.
With Match Play Teams you can create a two-team match online for up to 512 players per team – ideal if you are having an annual inter-club match or just going away with a large group of friends.
Each Teams event can have as many rounds as you want using a choice of singles, foursomes and four-balls. Mix and match the rounds and formats to have different numbers of players playing each round too – just like the Ryder Cup.
Once the tournament host has entered the players for each team they can either draw the matches manually or click a button to randomise the pairings.
Event organisers or players can enter the results into the draw using their smartphone and the match score updates in real time to show the total number of points each team has won as they approach the winning line. Watch the scoreboard turn blue, red or any other colour you choose as the event reaches its climax.
