Improved air management, attachment of implements and operator comfort are features of three brand new X700 Series diesel lawn tractors from John Deere. Available from July 2013, these new models are suitable for a wide range of private and commercial customers, including landscapers, contractors and local authorities, or anyone managing large areas of amenity turf.
The new range includes:
- The X750 with two-wheel drive and two-wheel steering, which replaces the previous X740 model;
- The X754 with two-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, which is a new model in the range;
- TheX758 with four-wheel drive and two-wheel steering, which replaces the X748.
All three new models are built around a redesigned, fully welded steel frame for maximum strength and durability. They also feature a redesigned air intake for improved air management and cooler operating temperatures.
The liquid-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine is rated at 24hp and has a displacement of 904cc,offeringthe right capacity to handle demanding commercial applications. Efficient combustion reduces exhaust emissions, increases fuel economy and consequently lowers operating costs.
The permanent hydraulic four-wheel drive system on the X758 lawn tractor avoids turf damage by adjusting the speed automatically on each front wheel. The X754 model’s improved four-wheel steering system provides maximum manoeuvrability and efficient trimming around landscape features and other obstacles.
Three rotary mower decks are available for all three models. The 48C, 54HC and 60HC are shaft-driven, stamped from a single piece of heavy-duty steel and painted in a dual stage process, to provide extra durability and protection from rust. Cutting widths are 122, 137 and 152cm (48, 54 and 60in), and mulching kits are optionally available.
The brand new 54HC and 60HC high-capacity rotary mower decks featurea standard drive-over system for easy and quick attachment and removal of the deck – the operator no longer needs to push the deck under the tractor to attach it.
An optional AutoConnect system, as featured on John Deere’s bigger compact tractor range, is also available for the 54HC and 60HC mower decks. The operator simply drives over the mower (as pictured), allowing both the deck and the drive shaft to be automatically connected. This exclusive system allows customers to save timeand change implements more quickly.
The new, more modern styling of these latest X700 Series models shares the same overall family design as the rest of the John Deere lawn tractor range. Operator comfort and safety have also been improved in a number of other areas.
These include a new lighting system to enable longer working hours, and animproved ergonomic position for the operator with a standardhigh-back, deep cushioned comfort seat with adjustable tilting back,along with an optional arm rest kit to help the operator stay relaxed. The new design also makes it easier to get on and off the machine.
For straightforward access and operation, full instrumentation and automotive-type controls are colour-coded and conveniently located.The new layout includes an additional reverse implement option (RIO) button for additional safety, and easy-to-use hydraulic control levers with a float position. Hydrostatic TwinTouch foot pedals allow the operator to control the tractor’s direction and speed easily, without having to lift their foot off the platform.
Additional standard features include power steering, an easy to access storage compartment that contains deck levelling and height of cut adjustment tools, a cup holder and a 12V outlet.An optional rear three-point hitch with ptois also available, andthe X750 and X758 models are offered with optional road homologation.
For extra year-round versatility, a wide range offront and rear mounted attachments and implements can be used with the new John Deere X700 Series diesel lawn tractors, including material collection systems, utility carts, a front hitch, rotary brush and blade.
