Honma updates premium Beres wedge range

9.19am 20th April 2021 - New Products

HONMA Golf has unveiled a new set of BERES wedges which are designed for golfers seeking the gold standard in high performance and luxury golf equipment.

The BERES Wedge comes in five loft versions and combines premium materials and expert craftsmanship to deliver maximum speed and spin performance, as well as offer a luxurious finish.

In creating the BERES Wedge in Sakata, Japan, more than 100 Takumi (HONMA Master Craftsmen) apply expert club building techniques and incredible attention to detail in the quest of creating a product that delivers unrivalled short game performance. This is the first wedge model since the stunning BERES series that was rebranded in 2019.

Options range from the exclusive steel shafted BERES Wedge, to the more luxurious 2* to 5* models that are graded on the technology and materials used in the hand-rolled ARMRQ shafts, plus gold and platinum embellishments in the clubheads, ferrules and grips.

Patented Dual-Plated Design
Made from ultra-premium mild soft steel, the head is dual-plated to maximise spin control through ‘Slide’ and ‘Spin’ Zones. Forming the ‘Slide Zone’, the sole incorporates Nickel-Chrome plating with a low co-efficient of friction, as well as a smooth camber, to ensure the club head seamlessly slides through the turf and sand for optimal speed at impact.
In the ‘Spin Zone’, Black Nickel plating on a CNC-milled clubface produces a high coefficient of friction and maximum surface roughness for incredible spin control.
The combination of the ‘Slide’ and ‘Spin’ zones, along with the high-CG reverse taper blade design that gradually increases in thickness from bottom-to-top, ensures the ball stays in contact with the club face for longer to deliver maximum spin and optimal distance across all lofts.

Sole Shapes and Loft Options
The Beres wedges are offered in two different sole grinds to match turf conditions and angles of attack into the ball. The I-Sole in the 50° and 52° lofts features a thin trailing edge which slides under the ball easily on full shots to deliver consistent distance. The C-Sole shape in the 56°, 58° and 60° lofts delivers aggressive heel and toe trailing edge relief with a flat bounce surface for shot making versatility. This grind suits those golfers who like to open the club face and get creative around the green in particular.

Shaft Options
A lightweight True Temper Dynamic Gold 95 VSS PRO steel shaft comes as standard and delivers exceptional control and critical shot feedback, whilst dampening unwanted vibrations on mis hits. An ONYX Black finish provides an unmatched premium look.
Featuring a 7-axis design, the Metal Hybrid Armour Technology in the 2 to 5-Star ARMRQ shafts provides higher compression strength and an additional 5mm of counterbalance for increased swing speeds.
The 3, 4 & 5-Star ARMRQ shafts also incorporate Twist Fleuret Technology through the combination of the new high strength, high elasticity M40X and T1100G materials, which transfers energy from the player to the shaft and onto the club head more efficiently. The ultra-premium ARMRQ shafts are available as a custom order.

On sale now, the Beres standard wedge has an RRP of £249.

Tony Scott, Head of Marketing at HONMA Golf Europe, said: “The BERES Wedge completes the current BERES line-up and is a must-try option for those golfers seeking something exceptional from their clubs. Through the use of the highest performing materials available, we are confident that the new BERES Wedge will be a popular addition to the bags of those golfers seeking the best wedge for their game.”
