Garmin has launched a second generation model of its premium MARQ Golfer watch, which forms part of a collection of five GPS watches designed for different sectors of the outdoor activity market.
The MARQ Golfer (Gen 2) boasts a number of upgrades to the model first launched in 2020 in terms of design, materials and battery life, although from a golf-specific viewpoint it boasts all the same features as the launch model.
The 46mm watch case of the MARQ is made from high performance Grade-5 titanium which is five-times stronger and harder than most steels, but also make it lighter and which increases corrosion and scratch-resistance. The case features a domed sapphire lens with a vibrant display with a highly responsive touchscreen to improve smartwatch experience and course map interaction. The strap is made from jacquard woven nylon, which is considered the most comfortable option for golf wear, and is coloured green, as is the ceramic inlay, to give it that extra golf-themed look.
From a GPS standpoint, the MARQ comes preloaded with course maps of over 42,000 golf courses worldwide , will automatically detect which course is being played and give precise distances to the front, middle and back of the green, plus slope direction with green contours (Active Garmin Golf app membership required). It also includes Garmin’s most advanced set of golf features, including Virtual Caddie, Hazard View, Wind Data and PinPointer, and includes three Approach CT10 golf club sensors for automatic club tracking. If you want CT10 trackers on every club then they must be purchased separately (£69 per pack of three).
With up to 16 days of battery life in smartwatch mode – and 28 hours in golf GPS mode – the MARQ Golfer also collects vital biometric data to give individualised information on sleep quality, stress, and recovery. The new model has a battery charge time from empty of one hour, which is twice as fast as the previous design.
The Garmin MARQ Golfer has an RRP of £1,999 and is available to buy directly from Garmin at www.garmin.com.
