Callaway has launched five new sets of Apex irons and two new Apex Hybrids, each of which is designed to meet the performance demands of a different type of player.

APEX IRONS

The standard Apex 21 iron (RRP £1,089/1,399 (st/gr, 3-AW), which replace the 2019 model, is the first forged iron designed with Artificial Intelligence, and is designed for distance and accuracy in a playable design. Boasting five-time the amount of tungsten weighting than the previous model, it offers higher MOI and more forgiveness, while also creating high ball speeds RRP £1,089/1,399 (st/gr, 4-AW) and increased spin robustness.

The Apex DCB irons (RRP £1,089/1,399 (st/gr, 4-AW), claim to deliver the ‘look, feel and performance’ of a forged players club with the forgiveness of a deep cavity back design. Made from forged mild carbon steel, they are first game-improvement iron to feature an AI-designed Flash Face Cup. The creates high ball speeds, increased spin robustness.
A total of 50g of tungsten is placed in each of the long and mid-irons to position the centre of gravity more forgiveness on off- centre shots and the most forgiving ever set of Apex irons. Patented urethane microspheres deliver exceptional sound and feel at impact, while the improved shaping helps enhance feel through the turf.

The Apex Pro irons (RRP £1,089/1,399 (st/gr, 3-AW), which replace the Apex Pro 19 Irons, are synonymous with Tour distance and performance and are designed for low handicap players who want speed and forgiveness in a player’s performance iron.
Redesigned from the ground up, its features a Flash Face and a new forged hollow body construction for fast ball speeds and improved spin robustness, while urethane microspheres provide the blend of sound and feel at impact that good players expect.
The hollow body construction includes up to 90g of tungsten, the most ever in an Apex IronThis improves launch characteristics while simultaneously improving forgiveness.

The Apex MB irons (RRP £1,089/1,399 (st/gr, 3-AW), which replace the Apex MB irons launched in 2018, are built for elite players. Offering a classic muscleback blade shape, they feature a thin topline, narrow sole, compact blade length and a chrome finish.
Precision 20V grooves promote high levels of control and consistent spin from all surfaces, even reducing fliers from the rough. A new weight in the centre of the clubhead allows the swingweight to be precisely dialed in without sacrificing centre of gravity location.

The fifth model in the range is the Apex TCB iron ((RRP £1,089/1,399 (st/gr, 3-AW), a tour-inspired forged cavity back which will be a custom-only offering. Specifically designed for elite players, it features lofts, bounces, blade lengths and COR values designed for the stronger iron player. Similar in footprint to the X Forged 18 irons, they feature a new hollow body construction coupled with a stainless steel face plate and visible tungsten weighting.

APEX HYBRIDS

Callaway is launching two new Apex Hybrids, the Apex 21 and the Apex Pro, both of which replace equivalent models released in 2019.

Apex 21 Hybrids (RRP £249)
The Apex 21 Hybrid features new Jailbreak Velocity Blades which are designed to increase vertical stiffness near the sole, creating more speed low on the face where players often mishit their hybrids.
The blades allow the face cup to flex on the crown to promote better spin rate consistency, and the bars are spread to enhance torsional stiffness, leading to more forgiveness all across the entire face.
Every model in the range uses artificial intelligence to place tungsten weighting in the correct location to alter the centre of gravity to promote high launch and to provide more forgiveness on off-centre shots. The hosel can also be adjusted to create the desired trajectory and launch control.
It is offered in 3 (19°), 4 (21°), 5 (24°) and 6 (27°) models, with a UST Recoil Dart 75g graphite shaft and Golf Pride Soft Z grip.

Apex Pro Hybrids (RRP £249)
The Apex Pro is aimed at mid to low handicappers and features compact shaping for added control and workability. Ideal for use off the tee, or to reach long par fours and fives with the second shot, the Pro Hybrid also features Jailbreak Velocity Blades to deliver more consistent ball speeds and spin rates, and increased forgiveness across the face, which is made from forged 455 steel to provide high strength and flexibility for enhanced distance. Unlike the Apex 21 hybrids, the hosel on the pro model is fixed, giving it a more iron-like appearance at address.
It is offered in 2 (18°) 3 (20°), 4 (23°), 5 (26°) models, with a Mitsubishi MMT graphite shaft (70g/80g) and Golf Pride Z grip.

All Apex irons and hybrids will be at retail in the UK & Europe from February 11, 2021. For more details, visit www.callawaygolf.com.
