Goolf app launches in the UK

A new app designed to connect like-minded golfers in order to organise rounds of golf with each other is launching in the UK.

The goolf app is designed to help golfers of all abilities find other golfers just like them to play golf with.

According to the app’s founder, Charlie Whitfield, this is achieved by matching to a blend of ability, personality, location and playing style.

“Golf is on such an amazing trajectory, in all areas, and with a whole new host of players joining the game, we see goolf as the perfect place for golfers, both new and experienced, to find like-minded golfers to enjoy, and play their best golf,” says Whitfield.

“With interest in golf heightening over the the last two years, especially in the 24-34 year old demographic, which will be our initial demographic focus, the app aims to offer every golfer a range of features.

“When golfers register for the app they will be asked to complete a short questionnaire describing what kind of golfer they are. The algorithm will then match them with compatible golfing partners and the user can then scroll through potential playing partners using a Tinder-style swipe system. The goolf app will also help users find golf courses, driving ranges, indoor simulators near you and arrange golf with your existing friends and your new ones, or both.”

The basic goolf app is free to download and use, but goolfers can upgrade their accounts to unlock additional features with a ‘Birdie’ membership, such as ‘arranging golf’ and access to the goolf partner benefits, for a cost of £2.99 per month or £29.99 for an annual subscription. The are also plans to introduce a third tier of membership which will focus more on analytics, scoring and leaderboards.
