The Under Armour Drive Pro Series footwear has landed a ‘Grand Slam’ of major titles for 2024, having earned Editor’s Choice awards from leading global golf publications Mygolfspy.com, Golf Monthly, Today’s Golfer and bunkered.
The only footwear franchise to receive Editor’s Choice awards from each of the titles, both Drive Pro Spiked and Drive Pro SL models picked up accolades.
The Drive Pro and Drive Pro SL each received Editors Choice awards from Mygolfspy, with the title calling the Drive Pro “an all-around beast” and Drive Pro SL “undoubtedly one of the best spikeless golf shoes you can buy.”
Bunkered also included both Spiked and Spikeless models in its Editors Choice awards, with Gear Editor, and third-place finisher in World Long Drive Championships 2023, James Tait stating the models “help me generate more power and improve dispersion.”
Golf Monthly, having previously named the Drive Pro SL as its Best Spikeless Shoe of 2024, included it again in its Editors Choice awards saying “If performance is your number one criteria for a spikeless golf shoe, look no further.”
Today’s Golfer Editors Choice awards named the Drive Pro as a standout spiked model, commenting: “The Drive Pro delivers golfers stability, traction, and performance through the innovative Swing Support System – all in a sleek and lightweight design.”
In addition to the Editors Choice awards, the models were also recently named among the Best Golf Shoes for 2024 by Golf Digest.
Releasing to high acclaim from media, consumers, and retailers alike in early 2024, Under Armour has continuously validated the performance benefits of the Drive Pro Series since launch with live data testing at the PGA Show Demo Day, and across the UK through the Drive Pro Demo Day programme undertaken in collaboration with its retail partners as well as at the new Under Armour Golf Footwear Performance Centre at Stoke Park’s Biomechaswing lab.
From over 50 testers at the PGA Show Demo Day, UA was able to consistently show increases across club head speed, ball speed and carry distance. The Drive Pro and Drive Pro SL deliver these performance benefits to golfers thanks to the innovative Swing Support System.
Developed with world-renowned biomechanist JJ Rivet, this revolutionary 3-layer structure supports the natural movement of the golf swing, delivering comfort and traction all in one. The Swing Support Strap features reinforcement in the upper to provide optimized 360-degree lock-in from lateral ball to medial instep. The midsole features Under Armour’s HOVR foam and more supportive Charged Cushioning that supports and guides the natural motion of the foot while exercising the golf swing.
Jake Haley, Head of Golf Footwear at Under Armour, said: “We’re incredibly honoured by the overwhelming amount of recognition, which we look at as a testament to our team’s hard work, rigorous testing, and obsession over every little detail of the Drive Pros.
“At each layer of the shoe, we asked the question – what is biomechanically correct to guide the foot in the swing? Even the finest details, like spike placement and angles, where JJ Rivet instructed us to rotate our directional S3 spikes 10° to hit the exact angle of slip we sought to resist. And I can’t count how many times we tweaked the lockdown lacing of the swing support strap until it was just right. We’re thrilled that our obsession over every aspect of the shoe is being felt by the media and consumers when they lace up the Drive Pro or Drive Pro Spikeless.”
