Offers in the region of £500K are invited for ‘Fairway to Green’ which is distributed each month in eleven counties in the south east of England.
The target readership for ‘Fairway to Green’ (founded in 1997) is golfers and those involved in the golf industry and the administration of the game. Principal editorial content is golf news, new equipment information and travel features. The title is written by two full time staff. The title is designed by the editorial staff and an outside design house. 24,000 copies of each issue are produced and distributed free of charge through golf clubs and driving ranges.
The sales particulars state that the main advertisers are golf equipment manufacturers, distributors and retailers, golf clubs and leisure destinations, plus locally-based lifestyle businesses and motor dealers. All revenue is from advertising and sponsorship. 25% of advertisers go into every issue. 60% of advertisers in any one issue have advertised in the title before. Advertising is sold by four full time staff. The turnover of the magazine in a full year is £500,000.
The website includes a database of searchable content but could be expanded. An e-mail bulletin could be sent every month to subscribers. The magazine is well supported by equipment manufacturers but current appeal is limited by its south east England distribution.
The publishers believe that by expanding the distribution area to include all of England the title could secure more equipment and travel advertising. There is scope to develop travel supplements with golf destinations around the world. The website is popular with over 10,000 visitors per month.
New publishers with the appropriate skills could bring revenue ideas to the site. The owner wishes to focus on his other business interests outside publishing. The current owner is willing to provide a handover period for a new owner. The owner is seeking offers in the region of £500K.
Cornelius Bohane, proprietor of Fairway to Green Ltd., based at Kidlington, Oxfordshire, told Golf Business News.com, “”I hope to conclude a sale of Fairway to Green to a larger publishing concern fairly soon. With new owners in place early in the new year, I will continue to work on the magazine during a handover period.”
