Sky TV boost for Scottish golf

Scottish golf will benefit from extensive exposure this week as broadcast sponsor of South Africa’s Nedbank Million Dollar Golf Challenge on Sky Television. Golf tourism is worth £100 million per annum to the Scottish economy.

The competition is expected to attract some 260,000 viewers per programme throughout the UK, during the live coverage of the Challenge between 29th November and 3rd December.

As broadcast sponsor, VisitScotland will run advertisements, raising awareness of the Home of Golf and urging people to log-on to the golf pages on visitscotland.com. Sky TV’s sports website will also carry Scottish golf advertisements, linking people to the visitscotland.com site.

The package is part of a £95,000 deal with the satellite station. Using the strap line “The Home of Golf – it stays with you”, it emphasises the lingering affect Scotland’s golfing product has on the visitor.

Neen Kelly, VisitScotland’s golf marketing manager said: “We are investing heavily in golf marketing and advertising to take full advantage of the potential that golf in Scotland holds for us. We have a golf product that is envied world-wide and, through this new advertising, we can remind many why they have to visit Scotland if they want a golfing experience to remember.”
