Datateam Business Media Ltd welcome Alex Fordham as the new editor of SGB Golf. With the departure of Robin Barwick, Alex will now become managing editor of the SGB portfolio which encompasses Sporting Goods Business, SGB Outdoor and SGB Golf.
Since becoming editor of Sporting Goods Business and SGB Outdoor, Alex has overseen a redesign of both magazines and a new editorial policy which has seen a more editorial stance over the traditional ‘advertorial’ nature of business-to-business publications. This new editorial policy has included a series of retailer competitions, celebrity interviews and closer supplier interaction.
Commenting on the new appointment, Datateam Business Media Ltd.’s publishing director, Paul Ryder said: “We are delighted to welcome Alex to the role of managing editor and we wish him every success. Robin will be a tough act to follow but we have appointed an editor that has managed to successfully develop two of our publications and we expect him to do the same with SGB Golf.
“With an ‘in-house’ editor at our disposal, we feel the right appointment has been made to help develop all aspects of SGB Golf including our digital and multimedia side of the magazine.”
“I’m excited to be working on SGB Golf and I hope I can do the magazine justice,” said Alex Fordham. “I am looking forward to implementing some exciting new changes to the magazine including retailer competitions, personality interviews and PGA pro product reviews.
“Although the essence of the magazine will stay product related, there is huge scope to make the magazine a more interesting read. I can’t wait to get started!”
Alongside Alex, regular contributor Duncan Leonard will be continuing his involvement with SGB Golf alongside further contributors to be announced shortly.
A keen sportsman and outdoors enthusiast, Alex plays a range of sports including golf, cricket and football. He currently captains Maidstone Cricket Club first team in the Kent League.
