Nike Golf has been named the game’s most fashionable golf brand in the UK according to an onlinegolf.co.uk survey, just days after the company unveiled their innovative new range of clubs, balls, apparel and footwear for 2014 at the Innovation Summit at World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
Onlinegolf.co.uk asked the opinions of nearly 700 golfers in the UK, and the findings put Nike Golf ahead of the other major brands, including Galvin Green and Adidas when it came to fashion.
The news comes after the new Covert 2.0 range of clubs was introduced to the world’s media in Oregon, before journalists were flown to Las Vegas to meet with two-time Major champion and Nike athlete Rory McIlroy at TPC Summerlin.
Commenting on the accolade, Nike Golf EMEA Business Director for Apparel Jason Wade said: ‘We are very excited at Nike Golf with the news that we have been voted the game’s most fashionable brand, according to an Online Golf survey. It’s even more satisfying when the consumer recognizes your product innovations and design.
‘Nike Golf has always approached golf fashion differently. Nike has made what you wear an important ingredient in how you perform. Twenty years ago Nike Golf introduced its NikeFIT System of material technologies, becoming the first golf brand to combine performance fabrics with design trends for the golfer who not only wanted to look good but also wanted a performance advantage.
‘Those fabric technologies still underpin today’s collections and as we head into the Spring 14 season the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy will showcase our new range of apparel which are all about maximum range of motion,’ he added.
During the Las Vegas event, McIlroy talked extensively about his new range of clubs to over 100 journalists. He also experienced the technological benefits of the new Hyperadapt jacket, as the region experienced unseasonal gales, rain and plummeting temperatures – the perfect testing ground to showcase how the product refuses to restrict the golf swing while providing the latest in waterproofing technology from Nike. The Hyperadapt jacket allows freedom of motion, which in turn helps deliver optimum swing speeds for greater distance.
Another contributing factor to the OnlineGolf.co.uk distinction will have been the extensive range of Nike Golf footwear, including the Lunar Control model.
Nike Golf EMEA Business Unit Director for Footwear and Equipment Sander van Rijn said: ‘The Lunar Control model is now entering its second year on the market, after a highly-successful first 12 months. We’ve expanded the range to suit many tastes, with conservative styles right through to a very bold look. The key technologies such as Lunarlon and Flywire remain in the product, and the majority of our athletes – including Rory – will be wearing them next season.’
The new range of apparel will go on sale in the UK on 1st January 2014, while the new Lunar Control II shoes are available now, with more colours available from 1st January 2014.
