The long-awaited follow up to 1996 hit goof ball golf-based comedy Happy Gilmore hits the small screen tomorrow (July 25) with the release of Happy Gilmore 2 on streaming platform Netflix

Comedy actor Adam Sandler plays the titular character who is trying to make a comeback as the former ice hockey player turned pro golfer to help fund his daughter’s dreams of becoming a ballet dancer.

The new film is something of a Sandler family outing, with Sandler’s real-life daughter, Sunny, playing Happy’s daughter Vienna Gilmore, while her mother, Jackie Sandler, and sister Sadie Sandler, also make appearances in the movie.

There is also a strong supporting cast list of tour player cameo performances including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and Will Zalatoris. There also appearances by golf legends John Daly, Lee Trevino and Jim Furyk.

Scheffler, fresh from winning The Open Championship at Royal Portrush on Sunday, joined the cast at a star-studded premiere of the film in New York on Monday, after which the four-time major champion appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with the Claret Jug.

“Everybody knows what the Happy Gilmore swing is,” Scheffler told reporters on the red carpet at the premiere. “Everybody tries to enact it when they’re young. It’s a part of golf culture for sure.”

“I don’t know how it happened,” Adam Sandler told US TV show ‘Good Morning America’ about all the stars who made themselves available to appear in the film. “We wrote ’em stuff. Everybody was kind enough to come. Everybody in it did a great job. Every day, someone cool would show up, and we’d hang out.”
