GolfPunk goes global with new international editions

12.30am 7th September 2007 - Media

GolfPunk, the iconic golf magazine, has boosted its credentials as a growing global brand with the announcement that new versions of the title are to be produced under licence in South Africa, The Philippines and Singapore.

This increases the portfolio of international editions to ten territories, adding to the GolfPunk magazines now being produced in the UK, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Korea, China and Indonesia.

Founded in 2004, GolfPunk has broken the mould in the traditionally staid golfing market. Famed for its Bunker Babes, high fashion and innovative approach to golf personalities, equipment and tuition, the magazine has won friends and admirers in the lifestyle and fashion sector, the music industry and the core golf sector.

Owned by the former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland footballer, Phil Babb, it launched as a bi-monthly and now publishes 11 UK issues a year, with a ground-breaking online product expected to debut early in the new year.

Owen Blackhurst, editor of GolfPunk, said, “It’s fantastic that GolfPunk is proving such an international hit. We always knew our recipe of making a product that reflected the real enjoyment of playing golf would strike a chord with dedicated golfers from Torquay to Timbuktu. We have huge plans for next year in both the print and online areas, so this really is just the start.”

Dorian Silver, MD of Planet Syndication, commented, “We’ve been working with GolfPunk for almost two years now and are very excited by the results. The brand is going from strength to strength with nine international editions and we predict to have 20 by the end of the first four-year engagement. In addition, Planet will be growing the web, digital and events presence of the GolfPunk brand worldwide in the coming year.”
