GolfBug.tv surpasses expectations

The world’s first 24-hour, free-to-view broadband golf channel has attracted viewers from across the globe.

The world’s first 24-hour, free-to-view broadband golf channel was launched in April and has immediately attracted viewers from across the globe.
GolfBug.tv is an internet-based TV station providing golf enthusiasts with an informative and entertaining daily schedule of programming featuring areas of interest for players of all levels.
With more than 10 million broadband connections in the UK more people now have access to GolfBug.tv than Sky Sports – and the figure is growing by 70,000 a week. But the man behind GolfBug.tv has also been surprised by the response from countries further afield.
The managing director of GolfBug.tv, Andrew Cooke, said: “Our figures make interesting reading. We were obviously anticipating most of our viewers coming from the UK, as that is where the launch was heavily publicised.
“But we have a large following in the USA and in Finland, for example, we have around 800 regular viewers who watch the channel for most of the day.”
Other countries with regular viewers include Hong Kong and South Africa.
“We are very encouraged by the statistics we are seeing,” added Cooke. “The average viewing time is around 37 minutes – so retention is quite good. We are also now approaching 10,000 unique viewers which provides a solid base for our increasing number of sponsors and advertisers.”
